[UniverCité] Amputees Feel Warmth in Their Missing Hand thanks to EPFL + Metaphysiks technology

Yes, you read that correctly. In a co-led study recently published in Science Magazine, between École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne, EPFL , Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies (SSSA) and INAIL, Istituto Nazionale Assicurazione contro gli Infortuni sul Lavoro, to test the effects of temperature feedback directly to the skin of residual arms in amputees, 17 out of 27 patients felt hot and cold temperatures in their missing hand.

As part of this incredible discovery, Metaphysiks Engineering SA‘ MetaTouch haptics technology is being integrated by the study’s researchers to create new bionic technology, opening up new avenues for non-invasive prosthetics to be developed.
