Frank Wright appointed to replace Patrice Coissac – Alexion (Lausanne)

Mr. Patrice Coissac, Senior Vice President of Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and President of Alexion Pharma International Sàrl, Alexion’s subsidiary located in Lausanne, Switzerland, retired from Alexion on February 8, 2013. Mr. Coissac joined Alexion in November 2005 as Senior Vice President and President of Alexion Europe SAS and has served as President of Alexion Pharma International Sàrl since April 2009.

Mr. Coissac’s responsibilities have been assumed by Mr. Frank Wright, who joined Alexion as Senior Vice President in December 2012. Mr. Wright will also be appointed the President of Alexion Pharma International Sàrl.

Frank Wright is Senior Vice President, Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and President, Alexion Pharma International Sàrl, and is responsible for leading the company’s rapidly expanding non-US global operations from Lausanne, Switzerland.

Mr. Wright has more than 40 years of increasing management experience and leadership in multinational pharmaceutical companies, obtained in positions he held in the UK, South Africa and the US.  Mr. Wright has extensive experience in new product introduction, manufacturing and supply chain logistics, including 12 years at Glaxo where he had responsibility for several manufacturing sites across the UK.

Mr. Wright previously served as Chief Operating Officer and Co-Chief Executive Officer at ChiRex, Inc. a NASDAQ listed global leader in development and manufacture of active pharmaceutical ingredients.  As co-founder and Vice Chairman of Aptuit Inc. he created the second largest global clinical trial development services provider with 15 operating locations in the US, Europe and India.  Most recently, Mr. Wright was founder of thepharmatrust, a global advisory company which provided consulting services, board membership, and management to corporations and financial investors involved in pharmaceutical drug development and outsourcing. Following study at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Mr. Wright started his career with Imperial Chemical Industries as a mechanical engineer.
