Translational Medical Research concentrates on the interface between experimental basic science and clinical medicine. Accordingly, the aim is to “translate” knowledge, mechanisms and techniques discovered by basic scientific research into new approaches for diagnosis and the treatment of diseases. Interdisciplinary cooperation is an essential key to success in this endeavor. A prerequisite for translational medicine are scientists who understand the rationale behind diagnosis and therapy and can define preconditions for using new therapies on individual patients. They are totally committed to transferring scientific knowledge to clinical practice. It also requires the involvement of clinicians with a superior level of training in the latest scientific developments. To promote translational medicine, different support frameworks have been launched in recent years. With targeted financial, scientific and entrepreneurial support, research teams can enable and accelerate promising projects to benefit patients effectively.
INARTIS NETWORK has invited experts from academia, industry and non-profit organizations to talk about translational medicine in Switzerland, Italy and Germany. In two highly stimulating sessions we will learn about role-model translational projects and will have open discussions with the interdisciplinary audience. The conference will offer extended networking opportunities to all attendees
