The global biotech industry scaled new heights in 2014 and broke existing records for profits, sales, funding and research expenditure. In a report named Beyond borders: Reaching new heights published today by auditing and consulting company EY, the authors state that as a consequence of this growth, successful new treatments and the increased number of regulatory approvals for new drugs, the market capitalization of the entire industry reached a record USD 1,063 trillion.
